Equine Therapy
Our Trauma-Focused Equine-Assisted Therapy program expands mental health care in our community – all services are facilitated by licensed mental health professionals.
Build the Dream
We need your help to create an innovative equine therapy center found nowhere else. A healing place where no child or family is ever turned away due to inability to pay. With your support, we will build Phoenix Center’s Equine Therapy Center, including a riding arena, barn, stables, therapy rooms, round pens, paddocks, and pastures – all specifically designed to meet the needs of children who have experienced trauma. Create your own legacy of healing and hope here.
About Equine Therapy
Studies show that equine therapy decreases symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, alleviates anxiety and depression, improves self-esteem, and promotes emotional regulation. Furthermore, equine therapy helps children and families build healthy relationships. The model utilized, Natural Lifemanship, is facilitated by licensed mental health professionals and is specifically designed to meet the mental health needs of children who have experienced trauma, such as child abuse or neglect.
While we are building our own equine therapy facilities, our trauma-informed equine therapy programs currently take place off-site at Corwin Hills. If you would like more information about our current Equine Therapy programs, please email info@phoenixtx.org or visit our group page here.
There is an incredible power of equine therapy to foster healing and resilience, and now, having these facilities on our own property will allow us to offer this transformative experience to even more children and families. Equine therapy is not just about working with horses—it’s about "life practice." For children whose trauma has affected their ability to trust and connect, horses offer a safe and profound relationship through which healing can begin. By integrating this work with the incredible therapy already offered at The Phoenix Center, we are creating a space where deep, non-verbal healing can flourish.
This equine center is more than a building—it’s a bridge. It will connect the work of The Phoenix Center with this innovative approach, making healing more accessible and holistic for those who need it most.
